The First Month

By alan - Posted on 22 April 2009

EarnMoreThanBefore has been live for just over a month.

Activities so far

Part of that time was setting up this site itself.

The rest of the time I've been doing the following activities towards the £10k per month aim:

  • Writing the articles for this site
  • Setting up new sites as described in the 2-hour website article
  • Researching and joining affiliate networks
  • Researching and joining affiliate programs
  • Adding affiliate program offers to the sites
  • Writing articles for the other sites, e.g. Awesome Amps

Additional activities

In addition, I've been writing more over at Squidoo. I'm not convinced it's the right thing to do long term, but it feels the right thing for now, although I'm likely to cut back on the time there next month. I like the idea of having created a foundation profile to build upon later for true organic traffic, complete with a steady trickle of traffic.

I've also been taking my first steps with Google Adwords for advertising at Audio Cloth clothing designs. What I learn from that, I'll apply to the affiliate programs later this year.

Thoughts about this last month

The choice of affiliate networks and programs will make a massive difference to how much time you have to promote them. I've found some are more awkward to use than others, some programs don't update their promotions (like a fast-moving technology company whose promotions are at Summer 2008 prices whereas real-world prices are 40-50% less than that) and others are just slow loading. This can make for a very time-consuming activity. Frankly, I've wasted much time trying to find the right product or promotion to place on my sites.

Over the next month, I'll shift focus onto the easier networks and programs as well as start working more with bidding on searches.
