New Activity at Awesome Amps
Starting afresh
I've been evaluating which activities I want to continue with to achieve my £10k per month target.
In addition, I've been testing the water with affiliate marketing and Adsense for a couple of other projects.
In order to get some traction in affiliate marketing, I wanted to be able to build websites quickly and cheaply, but still maintain control and quality.
Proof of concept
Awesome Amps is the first of these. It's more a proof of concept than a real project and so far it's proven that the technology works really well. Now to see whether the actual marketing concepts work as well.
Progress in the musical instrument retailer sector
My progress has been hindered by the lack of musical instrument retailer involvement in the affiliate networks. There are a few retailers in the networks but the commission is incredibly low across the range, even for high ticket items. That just reflects the small margins that the retailers are operating with, especially the bricks-and-mortar retailers. I can't fault them for that, like a lot of sectors, the customer shops on price after finding out what they want in a local shop or on an online forum. It's just rather more extreme in that sector.
Is it worth it?
You may think that 1% of a $2000 amplifier is worth targetting. Maybe, but the competition is fierce and many of the retailers pay out on the value before tax and even cap the commission calculation per sale.
As a proof of concept, it's been great. So for me, it's been worth it.
