Reducing the number of activities
I mentioned before about having to focus on activities, part of that focussing is cutting down and even removing activities that don't fit in with my goals.
The £10k per month target is not my only goal, so I will continue with some activities that don't meet that.
Social Networks
However, in the last week, I have decided to cut down on the following activities:
- Twitter - you can still find me on there as Award Sounds but I'll be posting less frequently. In fact, I haven't turned launced my twitter application in a few days now. I do like Twitter but I can see myself wasting time that I don't need to.
- Stumbleupon - I've had an interesting time with Stumbleupon and I'm going to continue but in a more managed way. Have a look at my favourites and my reviews.
- Facebook - well I hardly ever check that anyway, I've never been comfortable with the privacy policies and rights management.
All of the above sites have their uses and I'm convinced that I'll return to one or two of them. From now on, I'll be regularly checking them on a weekly basis and I'll give myself a maximum amount of time on them. I haven't yet decided how much time is enough to get through what I want to on those sites, but I'll be aiming for one to two hours a week, less if possible. Whatever I do, it will mean less reading.
Revenue-generating activities
I'm currently looking at my revenue-generating activities calculating which provide the highest return (initial and ongoing) for the amount of time and effort I have to put in to generate that revenue.
It's not just simply about which generates most, but which takes the least effort to generate the most. The least efficient will be dropped.
Balance
There's another variable in that I'll ensure there's a balance in the work between those activities that are routine or mundane and those that I enjoy doing.
